VCU Health System names Nina Hobcroft as chief strategy officer

Hobcroft will provide insight and recommendations on both short- and long-term strategic planning, business unit growth and development, strategic initiatives and market positioning. This role is directly responsible for executive leadership of the strategic components of the health system, including strategy, business development, marketing and communications to ensure alignment to VCU Health’s mission and vision.
“As chief strategy officer, Nina will play a vital role in health system’s future success,” said Art Kellermann, M.D., senior vice president for health sciences at VCU and CEO of VCU Health System. “As the complexities of health care expand and VCU Health evolves, the CSO will provide a vital operational link between my office, our physician leaders and our important VCU Health constituencies.”
Hobcroft joined VCU Health as vice president of strategy and business development in 2017. She and her colleagues developed an analytical infrastructure to support data-driven decision-making for strategic growth across the care continuum. She also developed a certificate of need team and other processes to advance the strategic goals of the organization.
Hobcroft and her unit have been integral partners in facilitating alliances and partnerships with other health care organizations. She played a key role in developing the Virginia Children’s Care Network, LLC. Launched in April 2020, this clinically integrated network (CIN) empowers 170 of metro Richmond and the Commonwealth’s top pediatricians, who between them care for more than 100,000 pediatric lives.
Prior to her arrival at VCU Health, Hobcroft served as senior vice president of strategy and development for HCA Capital Division.
Hobcroft earned her master of science in health administration from VCU and earned a bachelor of science in occupational therapy from VCU.
